Hypertension/High Blood Pressure

Side Effects

Although mostly preventable, there are cases where a patient needs medication to help manage their blood pressure. These types of medicines are called beta blockers or diuretics and they contain a level of magnesium that helps lower blood pressure and improve function of the heart. With these medications comes side effects and as a result of magnesium levels being lower this leaves a person open to risks because if a magnesium level drops too low this can also be catastrophic for a person. Some side effects associated with this are insomnia, dizziness, cramps and even erectile dysfunction.

Thankfully, Dr. Mike has figured out a way to reduce one’s blood pressure in a more naturally and holistic manner by figuring out what the direct reason is for the blood pressure to rise. Aside from weight loss, Dr. Mike has shared some other secrets that may help reduce that pesky high blood pressure.

Meditation

Practicing breathing techniques at least once a day for about 20 minutes can help relieve some stress, which in turn allows your blood pressure to lower.

Exercise

Trying a high intensity interval training (HIIT) class can work to lower your blood pressure as well as increasing your cardiovascular and muscle strength. A HIIT training session is an exercise that has short intervals of intense movement and frequent moments of rest which have positive effects to your health.

Have a cup of tea!

By having 1-2 cups of green tea can greatly lower your blood pressure. However, be mindful if you take beta blockers as the tea can cause interference with the medicine.

Chiropractic Adjustments to Atlas bone

The Atlas bone in the body is a vertebra that supports the head and when adjusted by a chiropractor, studies have shown great improvements to the blood pressure. Dr. Mike highly suggests speaking with our chiropractic team about this adjustment as the possible implementation of this treatment into your care plan for high blood pressure.
